i have some spikes! my phals spiked kind of late this year, at least i think so, these are really my first phal re-blooms. i dont know if it is because of the weather, or because this is the first year i have had them under lights.

the first is just a noid phal that i got last christmas from lowes. it is light pink with spritzes of fuscia it just popped up the other day, hiding behind that root.

the second is a growth on a noid phal i got in june that has huge white "monster phal" flowers. i know what your thining, but my mom wanted me to get it. i mounted it back in june. it was $6 bucks from wally world

the last on is a new growth on my neo. and to the left of it, there is a tine little nubbin that im hoping is a spike

i also just got a spike ( or whatever its called ) on a epiphyllum. i got it from a cutting in july

ill get the pic up tomorrow

Mine are not producing, what is the most common cause? My mom in law is about to throw the one she originally bought into the trash because it won't flower. I water, feed it, and it is in an east facing window. Our humidity is 50 to 60% and it is on a humidity tray. It has flowered twice before. Frustrated!!

Great news Bob. It's a great feeling to get your first home grown spikes.

Jonada, a temperature drop is often the key, although some of them respond to higher light levels.

WooHoo!! Now begins the waiting and watching while the spikes grow, form and ultimately bloom.

I'm still waiting (not so patiently) for mine to show signs of spiking. These would be my first re-blooms, too, thus the anxiety! Most of my phals spent the summer outside, and the past 2 weeks have been ideal weather for spikes. Days in the low 80s and nights in the low-mid 50s. Hoping to see little "mittens" popping up soon!
