Use the prop stick to get it straighten up, It needs to be secure in the pot, or each time it is moved it will rub the roots and damage them. If you can't get it upright, repot again. Welcome to the Orchid Board. You have a taste of all the help you can receive. Enjoy!

Default The stick

The stick used to prop up the spike was the main issue... If you can see from the photo I used a metal wire the adhere the stick to the pot... May have to re-pot again though... I was surprised by the root mass this orchid had!
Thanks again everyone

It looks very classy! The pot really suits the plant and I like the shape of it. It is a good idea to thoroughly wet the potting media first or soak the potted plant mostly submerged in water for a few mins if it's too late and already potted for the final time. I notice it is sitting in a clear bowl. You may want to put some leica pellets or gravel or something in the bottom of the clear bowl and add water just to the top of the rocks. It will help create a humid environment. Never leave the pot sitting in water tho.

It looks good to me.

You really really don't want an orchid pot to hold water so the holes are good. If it was in a pot with no drainage holes before then you did the right thing to repot. Sometimes doing it when the plant is in flower it might drop the flowers, but the plant should be fine overall.

The new pot is quite shallow and that might be one reason for the instability especially with a tall spike. I would dry and stick a stake at an angle pointing from the base of the pot intowards the plant to then prop it up against. I've done this with a plant which particularly wanted to keep falling over and it worked well.

Hi EthansAdaptation, I have some extra staking tips for you that i hope you will find useful. The photo below may help with the positioning of the clips. A thin stake with soft wire or plastic clips is suitable but make sure the clips or wire are not too tight on the stem.

Ensure the stem is secured in between node positions (and not at the nodes themselves).

I would also ensure the flowering top of the stem be allowed to arch slightly as shown in this next photo. The flower heads will then be in a more natural position.

I hope this helps!

Same here, Ethan. Your amabilis is beautiful. Great growing.

And, thanks, Val and Graham for the staking tips.

Default Some concerns

One of the blooms is closing

Another one never opened...

Should I cut the spike off?

(recently re-potted this phal)
