Question Oncidium keiki what to do?

I bought this Oncidium noid a few months back and it seems to have developed a keiki of sorts on the oldest back bulb. I have never seen this happen on any of my other Oncidiums. The back bulb now seems to be drying up and the keiki is looking like it isn't getting enough water. It has two very small roots, the longest being maybe a millimeter, as the whole keiki is only a fewmillimeters tall.

I guess my question is should I cut the keiki off and put it in some moss, or leave it on the mother plant and spritz it a few times a day?
The mother plant is mounted and about to bloom, and I really want her little baby to live!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

It's too small to remove.

Let it be for now.

Thank you for your response Philip, do you think the keiki will still be okay, even if the back bulb dries out totally?

It might be far enough along to survive on its own, but until that backbulb dries out completely it is best off staying right where it is. Your plan to spray it several times is good. Make sure it gets a splash of fertilizer too when the mother does. Maybe wrap a little shagnum around it. Good luck.

Thanks PaphMadMan, I think I will leave it where it is for now as you and Philip have suggested, I will just keep a close eye on it and spritz it frequently : )
