If you're able to...

Use 10% bleach and dip the leaves and stem portion of the plants only. Avoid the bleach touching the roots if possible.

If it's not possible to avoid the roots, try neem oil.

If neem oil is too weak, try tea tree oil.

Need another medication to rotate to, try Phyton 27.

Another to rotate to Physan 20.

If there's another that you can think of, try that.

Try using cinnamon, if the disease is only in one concentrated spot.

ooooh, well bleach sounds like a very good idea too. not much things that can live up to its toxicity. thanks so much for all the help. im confident i could stop the disease this time. ima go buy some phyton

Btw, Erwinia spp. is not just a pathogenic bacteria, it actually breaks down dead organisms too.

So to answer your question, Erwinia spp. is really everywhere. It's just a matter of whether the plant gets infected by it or if the plant's "immune system" can effectively fend it off.



Edit: Erwinia spp. do prefer wet and somewhat stale environments. They can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. Very good air circulation does slow them down a bit.
