Bacterial Leaf Rot?

I have dendrobium that continues to develop bacterial leaf rot. I have been using a new razor blade to remove the affected leaf, and then another leaf starts showing signs of it. Now out of 3 canes have one with two leafs left. I will just pray that it doesn't spead to these remaining leafs. Is bacterial leaf rot spreadable to my other plants? Is there something that I am not aware of that may be causing this, perhaps maybe a bad roots system? Thanks for in advance for any advice! I love all the input everyone gives on this board!

I would isolate that plant just in case.

All bacterial and fungal diseases are spreadable from one plant to another, with splashes of water being the primary vector, and physical contact being right up there, too.

A disinfectant spray (Physan @ 1 tsp/gal or household bleach @ 1 oz/gal) is helpful, but there may be some cultural deficiency adding to the problem - standing water on the plant, no air movement, something along those lines.

Thanks Ray! I have a solution of Physan mixed up...I don't spray it on a daily basis, just maybe once a week or if I have to cut a leaf off. I have a fan in the room going at all times for air movement and I never have standing water on the leaves...hmmmm. The plants I am having problems with were doomed the day I received them, I purchased them from a seller off of ebay whom I will never buy from again. The plants were severly dehydrated when I received them and to me the roots looked rotted. Maybe that is my problem? I am receiving replacement plants for two plants, but one that I have received so far seems to be in just as bad shape. Some of the plants that I received from this seller are putting out new growth, this particular one with the leaf rot hasn't had any new roots or growth what so ever...I am tempted to give up on it, but I don't know if I have that in me....should I cut all the roots off and try the sphag-n-bag maybe? I love expirmenting...just not normally for a price

Think orchids doesn't sound to well off, I think at some point you / me / all of us have to wonder if some are really worth saving at all

I wouldn't do this unless anymore it was a gift or possibly a rare orchid.

I know for me I've had my fill of trying to bring back orchids to life that were already to far gone, Just didn't know it at the time. Waiting for years to watch and see if this orchid would bloom and nothing just continues to further downhill.

Certainly not trying to put you off something you would want to do, but it could takes years to bring this plant back to health if she's not already to far gone
