Default Problem with cattleya new psedobulb

The new leaf from my cattleya was yellowing. What is wrong? I teared off the dried sheath to see what was wrong. I hope that wasn't the wrong thing to do?

You did the right thing imo.
I would treat with Phyton 27 as well.
If it was pseudomonas or erwinia this will help.
If it was black rot, removing it was the best thing.
If it was sunburn...oops...but no harm in the long run

me thinks you watered it too much and it dont have many roots from stayed wet too long...more light and less water makes big bloom on catts

you might want to check your media, might be broken down and the plant isnt getting any food..and its drowning

I dont think thats anything transmutable IMO

Taking off the dry sheath is not a problem. In fact insects and fungus care thrive under the sheaths. What kind of pot and what type of medium are you growing in? Catts like to dry out quickly and completely between waterings. I use unglazed clay orchid pots with large planting medium that drains quickly. Catts also like bright light. Having said all that I ocasionally get a psuedobulb that fails. It's usually a sign that the roots are not in good shape but it doesn't mean the plant will die. Let the medium dry out completely and make sure the plant is getting good light. Let the plant stay very dry for a week or even longer. If you have Physan 20 treat the roots with that. We're heading into the fall so don't expext much growth until spring. Let the plant get very dry between waterings during the winter and only give small amounts of fertilizer.

I get great growth in winter so I realy think that may depend on the type of catt in paticular ...but then again mine were growing well and just kept putting out new leads so I kept lights on untill about 9 pm and on at 5 am ....since you have spring ,summer, fall ,and winter bloomers I am kind of assuming you also get some that grow in relationship to bloom season,But Im not that experianced yet so I may be compleatly wrong ....anyone have some info here on active growth seasons for catts?
