WOW - you guys are absolutely brilliant! Not only did I see a picture of the exact orchid blooms, I also found out the name of it. It is called Balden's Kaleidescope, and one person on the OB who had this particular one mentioned that it was indeed a peloric.
Very happy to have helped ...and it is a rare thing to actually get a id on what would be called a noid ----or a no Identifacation possible phal ...being peloric and a Balden's Kaleidescope was a plus .... Im by no means a experianced grower yet myself but I had the feeling that you were looking at a peloric bloom.
I have never had a phal that I grew well enough to rebloom not open the blooms fully due to humidity issues, even with wood heat in the house and wood heat is dry heat so humidity in the room with the phals I do grow is always low in bloom season.
I personally don't buy the low humidity thing. If the blooms grew in the same place as where they bloomed, they'd have adapted. Plus, I have had phals bloom in less than 15% humidity without any ill effect. just my 2 cents.
Just a note, Baldans Kalaidascope is not always peloric.
This is the case with most peloric orchids and sometimes one will flower peloric and then next time flower normally, other individuals will always be peloric every time they flower.
Not that long ago someone showed pictures on OB of an orchid which had one peloric spike and one normal spike.
