I've used many different fertilizers and I haven't noticed much of a difference. I enjoy fertilizing, so during the summer growing season I use a weak fertilzer solution once a week (weakly weekly). They say to avoid fertilizers with urea because the urea needs the bacteria found in soil to turn into nitrogen that can be used by the plant. Since our orchids are not in soil the nitrogen from urea is not available to them. Some of the fertilizers I've used are Jack's classic orchid, Normans from orchids.com, MSU, Maxsea, Southern Ag., and Floranova. I have used bloombooster in the fall and it did seem to have results with some orchids. I grow mostly Catts and bloombooster didn't seem to make any difference with them. From October to April I fertilize less often and with even more diluted concentrations. Orchids need very little fertilizer in the winter.
