Cymbidium baby problems
Default Cymbidium baby problems

I adopted a plant someone left on their trash can. The plant had about 10 (pseudobulbs?) on it. I repotted it and the roots seemed extremely healthy! I broke on off and potted it in a different pot. All plants are happy now after a about a month since i repotted. But since i got it the plant has had very sad looking babies growing on it.
attached it the small one i broke off cuz its easier to see what i am talking about.
The leaves won't stand up.
What does the plant want????
I don't even know what this plant will look like if it ever flowers again.

To me, it looks rather happy..... Don't worry about the drooping leaves, my ones are exactly the same

Mine does the same as well. I wasn't sure if it was normal or not, so I'm glad Peter thinks it's normal.

Ditto here. My cyms are doing well, I think, but I have a few leaves doing the same thing. Never knew why or if I should worry or if it was normal. Guess it's not an unusual thing!

Tosh,

In making cymbidium divisions, I always recommend leaving 3-5 connected green bulbs per division. The leaves on your single bulb and new growth are just not getting enough support from a larger division as a whole and have to rely solely on the cut/broken roots on the bulb. It will survive but it will take a longer time to flower, maybe as long as 3 years..

Many people do not realize that Cymbidiums, as well as many other orchids, have pseudo-bulbs not true bulbs. Big difference.
