My poor plants are a mess!! need help!!
I have 2 kungs valentine's ( at least thats what i think they are) then i have one that i got from work that does not have a tag so i dont know what that is either.......
i really have no idea what im doing, they are my first
orchids they are all in moss right now and when i water the two little kungs the waters not running through the little pots so its not getting good drainage. They are both in bloom right now so im not sure what i should do...
one got sun burn as well now it has sticky stuff on the bottom of the healthy leaf, any ideas what that is??
And the one from work had black spots on the flowers and they all dropped.

Hi & Welcome!
Photos of your plants would help alot.. to identify the problems. The roots through the pot as well as plant/s
There are many people out there on this Board to help you. But need more info on your growing conditions too.
"Sticky stuff" to my knowledge is not bad!
Good Luck & Keep us posted.

You dont give us much to go on. Kung's Valentine is listed as a Doritaenopsis If the other one is like these then it is probably a Doritaenopsis or maybe a Phleonopsis. A lot of this type is sold by homestores or flower shops and are not potted to last. If they were mine I would get them out of the moss they are shipped in and into a pot that drains well. Many producers of this type plant cram too much moss into the pot - just to facilitate shipping - and use pretty pots with no drainage. Would be nice to see a picture - The AOS web site has culture sheets that might help you.

Well, for the first two, try poking you finger through the holes at the bottom to see if you can get it to drain better. The other one, repot, check the roots, and make sure it gets a lot of airflow.
Good luck!!!
p.s. if the Kungs don't show improvment, I would take the chances of repotting, and if they are Phals, they wont have a problem and probably wont get too stressed. A good bark medium would work wonders if it is in moss, also you could also try watering less.

They look healthy and fine.
I just notice some sun burn on one of you phals.
If you notice the medium is constanly wet, let it dry out before watering

As was already mentioned, the moss they are potted in is not meant to last and your plants would be happier repotted. I usually repot as soon as I get them blooming or not.
That much tightly packed moss makes it difficult to water correctly and the center usually stays too wet and rots the root.
The sticky stuff may be a sign of insects or it is also something orchids do when they are vigorously growing. It's called honeydew. Check carefully for critters though.
The black spots on the blossoms is an infection that is harmless to the plant. It often shows up in older blossoms. I forget what it's called.
