How long for phal from spike to bloom?
How long does it normally take from spike to first bloom for a bellina hybrid?

I don't know, but so far my bellina species is very very slow growing it's spike. It's got to have been going a couple of months now and still only a tiny spike, although I can tell it's still progressing.

For me with one my phals from the point of the spike first showing to it in full bloom was about 3 months :-)

That's what I get from my standard Phals as well, but the mention of bellina in the parantage makes me think it might be slower.
I don't know for sure as my bellina is new to me, but so far it's been almost exactly two months and the spike is still only just an inch long and it IS still growing... just very slowly. Of course bellina does not have long spikes anyway so maybe it's closer than I think.

Typically a Phal will go from spike initiation to bloom in roughly three months. But Phals also never follow rules, and so do what they want.
A slow grower like bellina could take it's time. Mine, though, typically have managed to follow the three-month rule, I think because the spike is so short and so compensates for the slowness.

I've had my Nobby's Amy in spike since forever!!! I keep rotating the plant and the spike it slowly winding itself into the perfect swirl. I noticed today that it's putting out a new leaf as well. But, the spike keeps growing and growing and growing. ![Smile](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif)

3 months +! Ok long way to go yet. I guess it compensates by having long lasting flowers & the possibility of regrowth.
peewee, would love to see your spiral spike. ![Smile](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif)

I thought my bellina went faster than my others phals but that may be because every one of them has had to recover from my abuse. I think mine took about two months, but don't quote me. The buds developed pretty quickly once they were visible.
