Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica
Is this phal a phal species or a hybrid? Is it fragrant?
I have two of these guys (bought one plant and got two because they are inseparable). I got the plants from Hausserman's.
Found here.
The plants are beautiful. The leaves are uber shiny and they seem to be a size that'll bloom in their next cycle.

When it's a species crossed with the same species...is that what is considered a polyploid? Just occurred to me.

If you're referring to 3N or 4N, etc., no it's not necessarily. They're genetically manipulated to be that way.

I only know that normal plant genes are haploid (N) for one stage of their lives, and diploid (2N) in another.
The botany class only briefly went into angiosperms.
So I'm not sure whether the sporophyte is diploid or the gametophyte is the haploid.
