I've taken genetics, so I follow you. I don't know why making a plant poly or tetraploid would be beneficial though.

I recently bought one of these on ebay. It has about a 12 leaf span. I am wondering how long it will be before it is blooming size?

From what I've read, phals can take a relatively short time (2-3 years, or in rare cases even less) from seed to first blooming. A 2-3 year old phal is still not a mature plant, though.
