yes, i use that. bark is definately the best mix for a phal, if your a beginner. dont get me wrong, it can be done, given the right circumstances. but for the most part, it is easier with a bark mix for a beginner

I prefer Repotme.com at rePotme Orchid Supplies - Orchid Mix - Orchid Pots - Orchid Care - Orchid Fertilizer for potting material that you can't obtain locally.
They have excellent service and a great selection of potting material.

nhman, i was looking at that site earlier and was really overwhelmed by the amount of choices of mixture they have on their site. I wasnt sure if i would go with the the imperial, bark, or the original phal mixuture.
which one do u suggest for phal?

i have heard of great things about them.

I recommend s/h with a seedling mat.
I have had a horrendous time with phals!
My humidity is low and difficult to control in my house where I currently have my phal. (40%)
Township dictatorships have my greenhouse "on hold"
The periodic wetting and over drying of phal roots is the most common cause for their demise in any home...making the roots susceptible to disease etc...other than overwetting if not repotted soon enough from compacted sphag moss.
s/h enables the roots to breath appropriately with great humidity especially with the seeding mat.
I have renewed confidence with 15 plants flourishing currently
