Rosie I like the look of those clips but I've never seen them before. If anyone finds out where they can get them from I'd appreciate the info.

I use either plastic covered wire or the little claw clips. I try to start training the spike as early as possible when it has some bendability. Even then you have to be mega careful. If you wait too long the spike becomes too rigid.

in theory if you use the clips that Rosie mentioned and found a stake that's bendable, you could train it to grow however you'd like.

You can get bendable stakes quite easily. I find that most Phals that are in spike when you buy them have bendable wire stakes. I have also bought them over the net too.

I was supprised that I had never heard mention of these sorts of clips on OB. Other threads like this have always said how clips can restrict growth and the grippy kind can, but these are so great. Now I realise they are perhaps not as common as I had thought. Now I come to look I can't even spot them for sale on UK sites. I find most of the plants I buy in flower have them though.

I couldn't find them anywhere, but I did find these... They look pretty good, and have the same idea in mind.

Yeah, those look good too, They may even be easier to put in place than the ones I use.

You could try one of those clickers they use in dog training.

 I kid. You've gotten some great suggestions already.
