I also got a Phal noid for 99p, although it had finished flowering and was very dehydrated (it had come out of its pot). My next cheapest orchids were two in flower Phal noids with sunburnt and broken off leaves. Both were bought for £3.75, although strictly speaking the cashier charged one at £3.75 and said the other was free.

The best I've done was a multifloral paph, two maudie (spelling) paphs and two phals for $5 each (no blooms on any) and $10 for a large cym (same deal). They've all gone bonkers for s/h and I can't wait to see their blooms! . Getting them at a deal when the greenhouse was trying to sell them for $40 each :S made me smile

Great plant for the price!

My first stop is usually the clearance rack. No problem with waiting a bit to be wonderfully surprised when it blooms.

I've never found an orchid at that price either. Congrats!!!!
I bought an orchid from Orchidsamore.com and received a free orchid in a 2" pot. Needless to say, I was very pleased!

The one I just saw today and wanted to buy looks very similar to yours and it is $21.99 + tax! Hm.... I wonder if I should wait? Maybe my farmers' market might carry it.

The cheapest orchid in my collection is my Den. Burana Stripe. I bought it for $5.00 off the discount rack at Lowe's back in 2003. The poor thing was neglected beyond belief, but still bloomed that very season.

Funny thing is, it's the best performer in my collection. It never fails to bloom, and grows with gusto each year. Best five dollars I've ever spent.

I've gotten a free plant from a vendor before.

A while back, I ordered some Vandas from RF (Bronze Butterfly and Ascda. Fat Tuesday). I opened the box expecting to see just two orchids, but to my surprise, I found an extra Fat Tuesday sitting right in the middle of the box.

I don't know if it was an accident or deliberate, but I was a very happy customer that day. I thought I had spent $96.50 on two plants, but I got my money's worth.

The best I have done is $.99 at the local safeway for a Noid that was finished blooming. It took awhile to rebloom but now it has 8 very large white blooms on it.
