I do not really understand why people are so caught up with what is called "ghost orchid". I feel anything that gets named ghost attract multitudes. It is a bit like the ghost pepper, the Bhut Jolokia. A lot of fake Ghost pepper seeds on ebay.
There are ground orchids with no leaves and no chlorophyll that depend on fungii... But people are not fascinated by those.
That movie the Orchid Thief glamorized that orchid. After all you can buy it for 15 $ online. Cheaper than a bunch of cut flowers at some nice florist...
Well that is my take.
Maybe a Neofinetia falcata would be better to take around. probably a window sill and a spritzer would do it and grows in reg moss. The flower is not dissimilar and the roots neither. It is in the same alliance after all. some cultivars may be a lot more expensive and hard to find than a Ghost Orchid P. lindenii....
