Brassavola care?

Nice plant and strong grower! I got one in bloom in October. It had 40+ psuedobulbs and a few new growths. Hasnt bloomed yet. But it bow has least 15 new growths at the moment!

It's a cattleya alliance.

I wouldnt recommend the miracle grow orchid mix. It holds too much water and is too soil like

Bob,
all those at Lowes have about 20 PBs and many have sheats. they seem to bloom at a small very small size. The PBs are very close to one another. It is in bark, charcoal and styrofoam. Wonder if it requires less light than Bl Yellow Bird. How much light do you give it?

I looked up the genealogy of Cattleya Caudebec and it is insanely complicated hybridizing of hybrids

Mine is really tight between psuedobulbs too. It makes it hard to pack in the medium between!! I may have o divide mine because all the young. Small old growths are on the middle but the new ones are around the outside.

I don't give mine enough light. It's about 4-6" away from 4 t12 flouros. But 1 fixture just broke so it's 3 bulbs until I get a new one.

Mine is potted in high-grade bark with some leca on the bottom and a few accidentally mixed throughout.

probably you could grow it horizontally under the T12 so the whole leaf gets light not just the top tip.
why don't you put it outside in the sun?

I will. But the weather is too iffy right now. Once it warms up most of my collection will get some sun. Hopefully I'll get some catts to bloom once they get higher light. Although I have to remember to gradually give them higher light

pretty amazing. wonder why they crossed so many times! the genealogy tree does not go all the way. Well at least there is a lot of guttata .
I am pretty impressed by the density of PBs of the Kosh Wallis. and seems very floriferous.

Yes, the tree doesn't go all the way. You can start looking at the last few hybrids. I noticed in OrchidWiz, that they don't have to much lineage beyond what you see but I guess it just gets too complicated to list on the text tree. If you are interested in the geneology of your orchids (and much other info including culture) OrchidWiz is a great resource and you can get deals thru OB or quite often your orchid society. I use mine a lot.

thanks... But I have a Mac. and also i prefer species and primary hybrids. The Kosh Wallis is an exception. It looked like a Brassavola but a lot more vigorous. I took a chance.
