I guess you can do it all in one go.

The sooner the better, though. Just sayin'.

These guys are hardier than you give them credit for. Repotting will do the plant a lot of good- and is a great habit to get into whenever you get a new plant, whether it's in bloom or not. A lot of people on here will tell you (and I agree), it's perfectly fine to repot while in bloom. 9 times out of 10, the blooms truck along just fine. If the plant needs it, it needs it. The roots are your priority.

I agree that repotting is a good idea, but I will perhaps add a different opinion on what you should use.

If this plant is potted in moss and if you have been keeping it healthy in that medium so far (you mention it has bloomed twice this year, how long have you had it?) then maybe going with fresh moss might work for you.

Now personally I don't get on with moss and I much prefer bark, but a Phal previous potted in moss will need to adapt to being potted in bark. If you were finding you were killing it in moss then bark would definately be the way to go, but if you find the moss is working for you it may be better to stick with it. Some people do like moss and grow everything in moss.

I think it would be a good idea to check the roots. If you have had it 6 months or more and the roots are doing well then it may be best to keep them in moss. If on the other hand the roots are rotting and/or you have not had it long enough to tell how it does for you, then I would advise potting in bark.

Good point, if you do want to stick with moss make sure you use Sphagnum... it's much much better then any other type.

Default clear pot inside

I just picked up a couple of these at Costco also. Go ahead and grab the stakes and lift up. There is a clear inner pot that you will lift out and then you can see the roots and th moss it is growing in. Lift off the decorative moss on top first though. Mine have really good roots and the plants have not been overwatered. The clay pot is just for decoration and the real pot is inside.

Hope this helps,
Jason
