If the mother can't grow another leaf, than it's done growing other than the basal keiki, so I would leave the keiki where it is. I don't have a lot of experience with basal keikis tho - hopefully people with more experience will chime in

I had crown damage in one of my Phals, it then produced a basal Kieki which is now almost as big as the mother plant.
The mother plant has now started growing new leaves from the damaged crown and looks none the worse for the damage.
I now have a double plant that I intend to leave as it is as when (if) it flowers I should get spikes from both plants
I would let nature take over on this one as one can never tell what will happen with a Phal or any orchid come to that.

I would be inclined to leave them together, if the mother is damaged it's leaves will eventually die back and the keiki will take over, if the mother is fine then you will get a double plant which can look really good if both flower together.

As for rotating... I'm not sure rotating is good for Phals at any time so I would say don't.

Thankyou for your help...I am not going to remove the keiki. Just glad to know that either way I will still have the plant whether the mother dies or not. Hopefully mother will be fine and baby will grow
