Default A strange new twist

This phal, had a very bad sun-burned leaf, it turned black in the burnt spot, then the rest of the leaf turned a bright, yellow.
I cut off the leaf, but you can still see the shade of yellow, powdered down with cinnamon, meanwhile before I decided to cut off leaf, the new leaf grew in with a twist. Is it going to survive or is something else wrong. Maybe I should cut the whole top off, and see if new top will grow???????? Glad to have your

guess, I'll wait and see, why would sunburn make this leaf grow sideways tho.? It doesn't look like it damaged by the sun.

I don't think it's a good idea to cut the top off. While Phals can grow replacement crowns in the form of a Basil Keiki it's not at all garanteed that it will.

I sometimes get twists like that anyway I think due to light direction (it grows towards the light). As John has said I would just wait and see how it develops.

The twisted leaf is not sunburn I dont think .I have seen this before on other types of orchids and it usually looks as if the leaf is barely attached as if it has almost been broken off by the twisting itself. It seems to be a bad reaction to stress and in fact could be heat damage to the bud while it was still microscopic in size ......sunburn does cause heat as well as uv damage .
