sphagnum moss
Is there a real difference between NZ sphagnum and Chilean sphagnum?
I did a search but I didn't have much luck.

Yes, there is a real and very noticeable difference, just like there is a huge difference in the quality of bark.
Sphagnum from NZ is cleaner (less debris), fresher (not pre-decomposed), has longer strands, and has fluffier fibers. I tried and tried and tried to grow in sphag. It never worked for me until I bought some premium NZS. I'll never buy any other type. NZS is the best.

I bought some Mosser Lee sphagnum that once wet smelled fishy and decomposed quickly . not worth saving a dollar for that. It was not from NZ not sure where from. Better Gro from NZ looks clean and scent - less

NZS is a much better medium to grow in or mix in with your bark, does not break down so quickly as other types and has a wonderful clean earthy smell when damp

Not to make a big stink of things. But Better-Gro is Chilean moss. Atleast that's what the bag says. And Actually it's what prompt me to ask the question.
Where exactly (links) are ya'll good people finding the NZ sphagnum?

I tried the Better Gro sphagnum one time because I needed some moss ASAP for a new Neo. it was not what I would call good quality. The moss ended up in the compost pile when I got some good stuff in.
