time to repot, need some help

Unfortunately one of my phals fell over and the stem partially broke

now the flowers are wilting which is upsetting.

I am going to cut the stem and repot tomorrow, I need some suggestions on repoting.

I will be using a mix of NZ sphag, fir bark, and charcoal.

Is it a good suggestion to use broken pieces of a clay pot at the bottom of the pot?

Do I put the roots in the pot and then start filling the pot with my mix or do you add a bit of the mix then place the roots in the pot and continue on?

Do you have to soak the bark 24hrs prior or is 7 or so hrs enough?
