I was at Lowes the other day and decided to look at hte orchids. They had enormous phals. most of which were dead, and they also had a lot of other orchid hybrids, but they were all dead. All of the orchids had been discounted. I looked around for a bit at the little selection, and finally decided to get one of the humongous phals. They were originally $26.95 on clearance for $7.95. I looked at the spike and noticed that it was almost 3 feet tall. All of the flowers were gone though, but the spike was still healthy. Here it is all repoted and spike cut.:

The top of the Phal looks good. Have you checked the roots, removed the rotted ones already, and put it into the smallest pot the root mass fits in to? Also does the pot have drainage holes? Big box stores are notorious for having plants with bad roots since most employees do not know how to properly take care of them.

Yes I made sure that everything was okay. I have to say that this is the first orchid that I git form lowes that was in really good condition. It must be a tough little fella.

That is great to hear. I know you said that you repotted it but I had to ask anyway ust to make sure you were off with the best start possible.
