Thanks for the replies! Well....I have found the best place to buy my first Vanda. On our way to Tanger in Deer park NY I saw several nurseries along the way. One nursery caught my eye, its name is Walsh Nursery. Website: Long Island Nursery, Nurseries Long Island, Long Island Nursery's . On thier webisite I saw a picture of hundreds of Vandas hanging in their greenhouse. I didn't get to visit the nursey as it was very late. I am very excited to go back.

Try V. Mimi Palmer and its hybrids. They are all easier to grow and bloom than most Vandas, and are also fragrant. I hear Princess Mikasa and Sansai Blue are also easy growers, but I don't have any experience with them.

I would also recommend Vanda Bronze Butterfly (you can get one from RF). It is fragrant and will bloom in bright shade. It's a compact plant, which is a plus if you don't have much space (mine has three growths, but the plant only about eight inches tall).
