No they are not hard to grow. I got one in 2007 & it has doubled in size and has put out it's first spike (7 buds) ! - I can't wait!
Mine's mounted on cork with sphag, I did have to mount the original cork onto a bigger piece..I water whenever the sphag dries. At the moment every 2 days. I keep it in a west facing window. Hope this helps

Yes indoors but 'lives' in one of my 'bottles'.. Although since the spike has developped I've had to put her by herself and taken her out of the bottle as the developing flowers were starting to touch the sides of the bottle..
My humidity ; average 55%. in winter - have known it to go down to 40%. @ times. ( but I keep the moss humid)
Temp average: 22°C
tonight humidity = 73% ....wish I could keep it all year @ this!
Yes I believe a lot of people grow it potted; a lot in pots with spagh mounts (traditional japnese way)there are many threads on this species.. which is what prompted/enabled me to get mine 2 yrs ago:!
everyone says they're fab... I await my for my blooms to open.

Sorry I haven't been at home since 9am this morning. To explain a bit ... my 'bottles' are just huge 18L water bottles you get in offices/buildings that distribute water... My hubby saws them so I have a bottom & top. & as I don't have (for now) an aquarium or as they are referred to here terranium... I use these for plants that need a bit more humidity- I line the bottom with a thick layer of leca which I keep humid and then hang my mounts inside. When I water which tends to be in the evening..(not good I know) I leave the 'top' off all night...
here's a couple pics ... ' single bottles ' & my latest new "double decker"!! created for my equestris with attached keikies which are all flowering ( I kept on getting bud blast so concocted this new home for it ..and it's not getting bud blast anymore.)
Hope this helps!
Await to see how yours is planted at arrival!
and don't worry I am sure you'll be fine with this one!
