Hello all! My Dendrobium has not bloomed since spring '09. It has a new cane that is almost as tall as the tallest older one though, but no sign of any spikes. I have it by a bright south window (not in direct sunlight) and I water when almost completely dry (with fertilizer). Any advice/suggestions? thanks!

What sort of Den is it. I put one of my Den Phals in direct morning/afternoon (but not midday) sun to get them to flower last year. Just a few days of that in early September was enough. This year the same plant was in the same spot in May/Early June and it's in flower again now.

You do need to get it used to the light steadily and keep an eye on it. Initially I had it outside while I was out in the garden and kept making sure the leaves were not getting warm feeling. During this spring it was just out in the sun... it got a red 'tan' but seemed really happy.

I don't know about other types of dens though, not sure how much light some of them need.
