Ok, I think I've covered all your questions. Final thing about watering... when the roots look green (clear pots are good, just remember the holes) then they do not need watering. When they turn silvery (not just on the surface but down near the bottom as well) then it's time to water agian.

One mistake many people make is to assume that the fact that overwatering is a common cause of killing orchids, it means you should not give them much water. As I said above the best way to water is to use plenty of water, either let it run through the pot until the medium is thoroughly wet, or stand the pot in water up to the level of the medium... just don't do that for more than 10-15min. Again as I said above make sure all the water drains after watering, don't leave it standing with water in the base for any length of time.

Rosie you are so good, you give excellent help and advice.

Hi Vicky, a very pretty and healthy phal that you have. I don't think you'll have to smash the vase to get it out. As it's potted in sphag you should be able to ease it out. You might want to think about repotting it in a quality orchid bark mix.
