Default Plese help my 2 dying rescue phals

Hi guys,

I have recently just rescued 2 dying phals from my mum! one phal has obviously had too much sunlight as its leaves are beginning to get rather yellow and when i inspected the roots they were in an awful state! i had to cut the magority of them off, the poor thing only has about 3 half decent roots left! So im not very confident this plant will survive for much longer so the question is did i do the right thing with this phal and do i need to do anything extra as it has very little roots?

The other phal on the other hand has been slightly burnt and has extremely good roots. Then only thing is it seems to have wilted leaves like the other one but i think this is down to little watering but also it seems to have LOADS of leves growing and stalks of leaves growing form the main big stalk (if that mkes sense?!) do i need to cut these off or leave them?

I have been trying to upload some photos of them but it doesnt seem to let me! Im obviously doing something wrong but i dont know what?!

Thanks for your time

Ash

heres a link for the pics. and pics would definately help!

the first one may be able to be saved. if you havent repotted, you should get some good medium, and put it in a smaller pot. or, you could try water culture as a last ditch effort, it worked for me.

the second one, sound like keikis, but cant tell w/o picss

it looks like the first one has basal keikis!!!! YAY! that can be either from a happy phal, or a distressed phal. the keikis can be removed, so that you have two different plant. or, you could leave the basal keikis on. i recomend leaving them on. it makes for a really awesome display once the basal keikis get big enough to bloom, ad bloom at the same time as the mother plant! it makes for a great display. it is also not so easy to seperate them.
the second on looks OK. if it has as little roots as you say, it would do much better in a smaller pot. IMO just my two cents hopefully other people can help too

They don't look bad - if there are good roots, even if not much - there's a good chance they will be fine. I do agree that a smaller pot might be in order - or a smaller pot overturned inside the pot you have the plant in.

a distressed phal will produce keikis because it thinks that the main part of the plant will wont live, so it wants to try to keep going somehow
