Default Bonsai

Here's my small collection. The junipers are pretty amaturish, the Chinese Elm and Bougainville I had lots of help from an expert with the styling...but I'm happy to be able to pot them and keep them alive, which is where they relate to orchids for me... Tony

Help, your photograph doesn't seem to show much brown?

The #6 is the Bougainvillea, I'm struggling to get the leaves smaller and I've de-foliated it twice this year. Picture #7 is the same tree close-up. showing the hollow trunk, which is why I choose it initially. I also think it needs a lot more organic fertilizer too...
Both bonsai & orchids need more patience and restraint than I can sometime muster...

...but one step at a time...

I font know about bougoniavilles, but I do know with maples, they shouldn't be defoliated more than once a year.

The pic in the thread is nit recent. It's from wheni brought it home. I'll post pics when I get a chance

Nice collection, Tony! I'm also here in SW Florida. have you been to Erik Wigerts place yet? He's the man for bonsai in this area! He has an absolutely awesome nursery in North Ft. Myers and a pretty cool website too!

Bougainvilleas can be safely defoliated up to 3 times a year in our area. I have actually done it up to 4 times in one year without a problem but the tree must be healthy.
