Default unknown orchid root rot

I have this orchid i recently bought and wanted to know if I could save it. I trimmed the inner roots, with sanitized snips, which were roting because of the moss inside. Wondering about any recommendations to save it, I have deflowered and re-potted in an orchid mix and made holes into the plastic pot. thank you.

It still has some quite nice roots on it, so I would be surprised if it didn't survive. You have already done everything that you should do. Water it based on the color of the roots that you can see through the sides of the pot. If they're green the plant has enough moisture, and once they become silver/white it's time to water. I usually water by giving the plants a 10min soak.

Hi and welcome to the OB.

Yellowing of the lower or base leaves can just be a sign of natural die back. The lower leaves are the older ones, so should go first. Hopefully that is the case here.

There is usually little need to remove such a leaf by force, it should come away naturally of it's own accord with time. The plant will also absorb back some of the nutrients contained within the dieing leaf.

If there are no other signs of rot or infestation, then this should be the reason for the yellowing and discoloration.
So if the other leaves do not have any spots I wouldn't worry too much. You may be surprised at what these plants can come back from with the right care.

Wishing you all the best with your plant! If I'm wrong in my assumptions I'm sure someone else will pipe in soon enough

your orchid looks much much better than my first ( it had no roots and two leaves) and it survived until something else killed it later :\
