I think they are just sulking because they have a new environment. Mine snapped out of it pretty quickly. Don't give up on it, it's just trying to freak you out.

I have a dend noid and the smallest sprout ( 1 leaf) is turning yellow. The rest of the plant looks good. It's my 1st dend. It seems to dry out alot faster than my phals, is this significant? Judi

Hi Kathy and welcome

After reading all the replies, I sense that some folks don't like dens

I, on the other hand, have a large number of them. If yours has the name Burana in it, it likes high light so I don't think it'll turn out to be sunburn. It would be very helpful to be able to see a picture.

I had/have a Den Zengyo Pink that decided it wanted yellow leaves last year...here's a link to my original post on it:
Baffled!

and here it is two months ago:

Don't be afraid to experiment a bit...and don't let the den-phobics scare you away from them

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I had a den with beautiful white flowers recently. A friend bought it for me for my house warming.

The orchid had three big canes and seemed very healthy but then the leaves started turning yellow and dropping off! The plant was bald within two weeks. I tried repotting but the roots where so tightly entwined I couldn't get it loose and most of the roots were dead and the canes became mushy. I had to throw it away. I was heart broken. I only watered the plant twice because the media seemed damp so I waited for it to dry before watering again. I should have just repotted on day one.
I have four other very healthy, blooming dens and two sick ones I just adopted and am trying to save. *Fingers crossed*

From my experience, i would suggest you check the roots. Just in case.

I think it's pretty normal for them especially the older canes to turn yellow and drop some leaves, especially with the change in it's enviroment. The new canes will bring new blooms. My phal type dends like lots of light.

You are correct in saying the older canes turn yellow; they will eventually dye, psuedo will shrivel, the new canes will bloom. Dends from my experience do not like change, they like bright light, summer watering increases, fall slow the watering cycle, if a nobile type hard cane drying period from late Oct to Feb/March when the first sigh of a bloom slowly increase watering as well as fertilizing.

The best way to put it is they love to pout and thrive on attention
