hhmmm!! but woulden't that mean the root system will be out of medium? won't the roots dry out?

no they wont ....roots of phals can do fine in the air just mist once in a while let me show ya.....

thanks ....I mist it with fert at least once a week when it is indoors and lol the birds take care of fertilizing it in summer outside.But I make sure the roots get misted....Im not quite sure but I think it is trying to escape and head for the trees.

Hey Jeff, multiple keikis eventually make for specimen plants. They are really fantastic although it takes a few years.

Johnblagg - Question about the roots on that Phal you pictured above. I have several Phals that the root tips have turned a reddish/purple color like the one you have in your picture. Is this normal to see as Phal roots are growing, or are the roots possibly getting sunburned?

It is normal and not a problem at all....mine are it almost total shade right now and have the purple tips still
