Thank you so much for posting this link! I was given two orchids from a friend who doesn't grow anything other then phals. I thought they were both dendrobiums but never really looked closely at the tags. I was performing some surgery since they both in need of cleaning up. I was concerned about one since the leaves had a redish/purple tint to them and feel very soft...so I looked at the tag (it has been a few weeks & they are hard to read due to fading) and realized it said it was an Epi. Hakulea Super Red. I've never grown Epi's and thought I should figure out their needs for growing conditions and potting medium! This artical will be a great help, hopefully I didn't butcher the poor thing, I was concerned that the bottom of the canes near the inactive eye's were turning yellow....with dendrobiums, I've seen this yellowing spread and kill the entire plant very quickly so I hacked that part off! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!
