Yes, roots will grow from between the leaves. They are usually aerial roots.

I thought that too til a month or two ago now i have two orchids with roots coming up inbetween leaves. I think ur new growth looks like a root because it looks the same as mine did.

Thank you all for your input, I guess we'll wait and see what happens. I think my hopes and dreams crashed and burned. But I can't complain too much, because my plants are thriving and absolutely loving the S/H. I'm so glad that I made the switch. Thanks again

Roots can come from just about anywhere on a Phal.. I'm with AL on this one. Either way it's a good thing, and you'll know for sure in a week or two!

Looks like a new root to me... but roots are good, especially if just transfered to S/H
