Question after pruning question

Hi Everyone! I am new to this site as well as a new orchid grower. I currently only have one phaleanopsis, and I was just wondering what I do with it after I prune the spike? Does it need different light and watering? I'm sorry this is so basic, but I need all the help I can get. Thank you for any information you can give me!

Welcome to OB!

I do not treat mine any different when in bloom or not. Was it bought in flower? If so now would be a good time to give it some fresh potting medium.

Welcome to Orchid Board

I agree with Ted, I treat mine just the same all year round. As Ted has said it may be good to repot as you never know the age of the medium when you bought it, just make sure you use a high quality medium because repotting in a poor one almost killed my first orchids. I don't live in the USA, but I've heard that repotme.com does some good mixes.

Great! Thanks for your helpful responses. Yes I did buy it when it was already blooming and it still is. Should I wait for the blooms to die before I repot or just go ahead with it right away?

If the roots are good I'd wait to repot untill after the blooms die.

I agree with Joann, if the roots are good then you can wait until it's finished blooming. On the other had if you have any reason to worry about the roots it may be best to repot.
