Hello! I'm brand new to growing orchids but am fast becoming addicted. I recently repotted a phal plant (it had just dropped its flowers) because the many of the roots looked black and either very dry or too moist. Now half of the stem has turned light brown. I havent cut it down yet because I'm not sure what to do....should I still go ahead and cut above a node, or just hack it off at the base? Thanks for any help!!!
I agree with John, just cut it off completely. And if you're worried that it might have something to do with being repotted, it probably doesn't. For a lot of phals, once they finish blooming the stem will usually dry up at one point.
