this site is really informative. I got my first orchid in aug. of last yr and had no idea what is was..found this site and it has helped me alot. I now have 16 orchids and have only lost 1, though i did make a couple very sick with root rot but they all now have new roots and leaves growing. My question is so a phal can be growing new roots and put up a spike because i think that is what 1 of my phals are doing now. I am pretty sure it is not a root as it is like a pinscher and not rounded.

Hi mattryan,

My phalaenopsis in this series of pics first started with a spike then new roots started to grow at the top, then it started growing a new leaf, so they were all pretty much growing at the same time.

Nice job. Re-blooming does wonders for the orchid esteem psyche, huh?

Congratulations on your rebloom. Really nice Phal a bit like one of mine I think, although mine like that has been struggling recently.

mattryan, mine tend to do everything at once, they do that when they are happy and healthy
