Agreed, if I buy a plant on sale I still always check for healthy roots and if possible signs of leaf or root growth (if there is a choice of seveal then the ones with leaf/root growth are the ones I pick. If they look sick then I wouldn't even buy them for a few pence.

Most places sell them on sale because the flowers are spent, and you can get some great ones that way. One of mine I got that way is just about to flower again.

All the advice on repoting is good, and that video on repotme.com is worth watching. Just one note, you said 'bark soil'. It should not really be soil like, some orchid bark is already too broken down and I've almost killed healthy orchids that way. You need something which is definate piece of bark, the size/grade can vary, but it should not be too broken down.

Thanks so much for all of the information. I put them in the bark medium yesturday and ran water through it letting it come out of the bottom. Should I still soak the bark and then repot it again? They are not in bloom currently. About cutting off the roots, there's a lot of dead ones, should I be worried about cutting off too much?
