Default Nobile, Phal type????

Ok! I thought I had a grasp on this, but What is the difference between the Nobile and the Phal Type? And why are they opposites?
Is this the same as soft cane, hard cane dends?

Plus can you post pics of examples, thanks!

They require different growing conditions.
Basically Nobiles really need a cooler and drier rest in order to bloom. They loose their leaves and bloom on their old canes.'
Phal types don't bloom on old canes and that rest period is not required.

Tindo, this is a nobile. Nobiles bloom from nodes off the cane rather than a spike from the top.

Did it bloom so long time ago that you don't even remember how the blooms look like?

Yea the bloom shape and texture are different between the two groups.
I think phal type dends have thicker petals. They are the ones used for cut flowers

Yes, and the spikes are completely different too.
