Black Spots on Prpetallum Mathina Male
Default Black Spots on Prpetallum Mathina

Hello, I was checking my orchids today and I saw THIS all over my Propetallum Mathina!

It was fine a week ago and now... is this a fungus? Do I need to up the air circulation?

I've had issues with blackening tips for a bit, but now... things are definitely getting out of hand. What can I do to save my poor 'chid?

Edit: Whoops broken image links.

The thin broad leaf orchids seem more inclined for black spots, air circulation will help.

Should I trim infected leaves? Use an anti-fungicide?

My friend has absolutely freaked about me turning on the ceiling fan, claiming that because it's probably a fungus, I'm spreading the spores all over my bedroom. Do I have anything to worry about?

No, I don't believe you have anything to worry about. I usually treat the fungus spots with Gentian Violet. It makes the leaves look a bit funky, but seems to control the spread along with increased air circulation.
