wow. That is some crazy orchid. how long did it take before it develop the keiki? Did you do anything special for the plant?
when I got my plants the sales lady said that I had a crazy look on my face. If my plants did what your did I think my face would look beyond crazy! haha, hope fully I have some exciting pictures to post too.
The plant was a rescue which I think I got about 6 months ago. It was rather beat up at the time and only had a few leaves and the crown was damaged as you can see in the pics. It put up a spike and the big basal keiki sat on the top of it. Then about a month ago it just started throwing out spikes and growth all over the place. I haven't done anything special with it, I water it about every 7-10 days with weak fertilizer.
I see a new crown growing with lots of new leaves but I do not see a spike emerging out of it to make it a terminal growth the old crown does look finished as far as growing itself but the side growth will continue I think with no problem.I do see two spikes on it below its crown but not terminaly.
And would you believe another node on the original spike has now become active?! Look at the node right at the bottom of the original spike next to the short white root.
