Phal cultivar name

Wondering if anyone has the answer to my problem.

I recently purchased several Phals from a reputable orchid vendor who I've purchased from many times in the past. All the plants were clones however, there was no cultivar name attached to the name. I've contacted the vendor and they state that there is no cultivar name for these clones.
My question is, since the vendor does not have a cultivar name for the Phals can I go ahead and give them one of my own making???

Yes. Whoever shows it and wins an award first would be the official cultivar name for that group of clones though.
