Default DEND. CANE - PHOTO UPDATE!

I posted a while ago about my new dendrobium cane (it was tiny then) and just wanted to show you its NEW GROWTH! I think it's gotten quite tall - it's only been a couple of weeks since! Just thought I'd share in my joy!

I got her about a year ago when she was in flower, but no other spikes since. How long do you think before she spikes again?

Well do you have a name? I can research and let you know when they are expected to bloom.

If not, do you know the Den Section? I'm guessing Dendrobium Nobile type...but they can be tricky to know with all the hybrids out there.

I would guess it is a Den. phal type hybrid. Mine seem to bloom in late summer.

I believe it's a Den Nobile. The flowers are a beautiful snow white. I'm really looking forward to a new spike. I noticed that recently, the sphagm moss dries out really quickly. I wait until it's almost completely dry and water again w/25-10-10 fertilizer). The sun is quite a bit stronger this time of year-but she seems to be enjoying it!

Did it bloom on an old spike (no leaves)? If so, it is probably a nobile type.

Do the blooms grow directly on the cane or from the center of the cane (top)?

I bet it blooms directly on the cane which leads me to believe a nobile.

Has it bloomed already this year (spring)? If so, that timing is nobile. Right now the spatulata and formosae types are blooming (for me late spring here in Memphis).

Post a pic of the blooms please.

It actually bloomed on the highest cane, through the middle of the leaves (late last summer). Here is a picture I got from the net - it's what my flowers looked like. It hasn't bloomed yet this year. But with the new cane I'm hoping for a summer spike.

Indoor south facing window, zone 5a.

Okay not a nobile. I have one that looks similar. Let me look it up.

I'm back...had to get to the office.

This guy looks a lot like my Den Waianae Valley 'Ruffles' which if I remember correctly is a spatulata type (Hybrid of course).

I don't have my orchid journal with me at work, but if you google the name or try the below link, you might find it. I'll look it up when I get home tonight.
