To save or not to save?

I just broke my oncidium sharry baby pot and decided to repot using s/h. It is currently in spike and I don't know what to do with the spike since I already re-potted it. Should I save the spike or not?

Will it be better to cut the spike to concentrate on growing roots and adopting to the new culture? Please help.

If you did not disturb the plant too much when repotting, ie cutting roots or breaking roots by removing all the old media, I would keep the spike on. If you disturbed the roots as I described above, it would be best to cut the spike. One other option, depending on how far along the spike is from opening, is to let it open part way if close to that point, and then cut it immediately. It may continue to open in water,or not....

I'm sure I disturbed the roots pretty well because some roots were broken while removing from the old media. But there are 3 healthy big bulbs. Does the bubs enough to produce energy to both blooming and establishing in new culture?

Were there any brand new roots growing? You really need some if you want the transfer to S/H to be successful. Usually on Oncs that means repotting when there are new growths starting, because you always get new roots then. I may be wrong, but in Onc alliance plants I don't think that mature bulbs will produce any new roots.
