Default White stuff in MSU fertilizer

Hi everyone,

I use the MSU fert (Well water version) and I was just wondering for those that use it as well if you have experienced any white stuff floating in the bottle?

Is it something to be worried about?

Thanks so much,
Garnet

Hello and welcome

It is likely that the bits of floating white stuff are the build up/combining of the nutrients in the mix.
I have seen build ups of particles within other liquid and gel fertilizers. Especially build up of residue around the container opening, where some of the liquid may end up resting and then evaporates to leave a salty textured substance.

The trick to reducing this is to not have the container open longer than it needs to be. Also shaking the container well before use, should help keep the solution dissolved.

Just my , and it's possible I'm wrong in thinking this.

I mix up a concentrate of MSU RO formula for injection via a metering pump. Over time, the open-top tank develops a layer of white "scum" floating on the top. Consulting with the manufacturer, I learned that it's a bacteria colony and nothing to worry about - I just skim it off periodically.

Ray, out of curiosity, do you know the proportions for a mixture that would deliver 150 ppm per table spoon (or somewhere around that volume)?
