Hard to find neat looking pieces of wood to mount plants on. Found some neat looking stuff at the home stores that LOOKED like wood, picked it up and found it was molded plastic. Don't like and don't want anything plastic touching my plants more than it has too. I rip stuff out of plastic pots faster than the pope can apologize, again.
which leads to My "Noobie question of the day".
Is pecan wood okey for mounts? Lost a nice pecan tree too hurricane Ike but have lots of wood left over. Would probably make better BBQ wood but it has some neat little crotches in it perfect fit for some little orchid to find a home.
Pecan wood is very oily unless its pretty dried out after years of sitting. I wonder if the oils would leach out into the plants over time?
I'm really liking the way orchids look mounted on wood in SCENES..like a small world all its own and thanks in advance for your help and comments
