how to tell a catasetum is in dormant phase?
Default how to tell a catasetum is in dormant phase?

having read that catasetum had a dormant period, how to tell they are in dormant phase? is the phase where they stop to grow is the initial dormant phase or they are in the dormant phase when they have shed all their leaves leaving the mambranous covering pseudobulbs?

second question is when to switch from foliage/growth fertilizer to flowering fertilizer for a catasetum?
thanks

Leaves will turn yellow and fall off. Withold water until new roots are about 2 inches long and then resume water and fert.

does that means that as long as they have fully grown leaf sticking with them then they are not in dormant phase?
and when can i start switching to flowering fertilizer (from foliage to flowering)?

If it just has one leaf and the leaf is starting to get yellow at the edges I would start to cut back on the water. I don't use a "blooming fertilizer" but if you do then I would switch to it mid summer. My plants bloom late summer to early fall, most before dropping leaves but one variety after.
