I've got my fingers crossed that they will look as they should. I'll wait for an update! Mine was bought at a society meeting and has a spike about a foot tall. The buds are quite a ways from opening yet. How long do the spikes get?

thanks
if I recall, spikes aren't monsterously long, but long enough to hold the blooms nicely above the foliage - I guess depending on the size of the plant, maybe 18" - 24" ?
I suppose a large, mature plant could get longer spikes. Mine has been quite a slow grower - but I don't know if mine is one to judge by ;p

update on this one

one bud starting to open (this is the spike were I thought buds looked like they might be crippled) - so hard to say for certain yet what it will look like - it does seem that while perhaps it's not a return to it's former glory, looks like an improvement from the previous blooming ...

will have to wait and see ...

Well, it looks pretty nice! My spike isn't getting too much longer (about 1 1/2 ft maybe) and the buds are starting to emerge, but not open yet. Can't wait! I hope yours improves to how it was. If not this time then next time.

thanks - got a better peek at the lip a bit later, and that looks much nicer than the last blooming! so, keeping my fingers crossed - there's a few more buds on this spike, and then a whole other spike after that - feeling a bit more optimisitic about this plant now
thanks for your encouragement

hope you don't have to wait too long to see blooms on yours!

I'll post a picture when they do bloom. Glad to hear yours sounds better this time.
