I do really like this sequence. Showing spike developing from such an early stage like that has been very helpful.

Thanks again en3rmax!

Thanks for showing the spike pics - I haven't seen the time lapse sequence before. Now I know that what I thought was a spike is really just a root that's growing straight up.

I never understood the whole "mitten" thing until now.

Great post!

Hi there all on OB,

Here is another updated photo of my phal spike, it's really started to grow fast now, there is also a small new root growing.

Just been looking at my phal and noticed it has a new leaf starting at the top and a new root, plus the spike is really starting to take off.

The weather is nice for them at the moment in the uk, my phals are getting nice indirect sunlight and a temp of 72 and humidity of 53%.

All my Phals have really taken off in the good weather the UK has had in the last few weeks.

I have roots growing on pretty much all of them. At least half have new leaves, and I have also spotted a lot of spikes starting. Many of them are doing all three at once.

Isn't it so great to see

Hi RosieC,

You're enjoying the same weather as me as i'm in the midlands too, and yes all of my phals are loving it.

My other spiked phal from a node is about to open it's buds too which is great.

Here is another update of my phal with the spike roots a leaf.
